Klansman on the right; this is an old Confederate Cavalry
Symbol and does NOT have anything to do with or show
sympathy for Islam or Moslems! These men were both
Christians or they would NOT have been riding with The Ku

Battle Flag CSA
The Van Dorn battle flag was one of the most
common battle flags of the Confederate Army of the
Trans-Mississippi and was flown by troops from Texas,
Arkansas, Louisiana and Mississippi. This Rebel Battle Flag
was flown by Rebel State Militias, CS Infantry and CS
Cavalry. It is perhaps best known for being flown by the
3rd. Arkansas Cavalry CSA under General Earl Van Dorn. The
Crescent Moon stood for LIBERTY, KNIGHTHOOD and CHIVALRY, it
is not just a Crescent Moon but also a Gorget (a
piece of armour worn over the throat, and a military badge
of honor representative of knighthood). This same Crescent
Moon symbol with the same meaning was commonly used by
American Rebel Militias and the Continental Army on various
Battle Flags during the American Revolutionary War.

In 1776, Rebel South Carolinians
flew this battle flag while defending Charleston Harbor
against the British. They fought for Liberty and the blue
was the color of their uniforms. The Crescent Moon was and
is a symbol of Liberty, Knighthood, Valor, Chivalry and
Honor. It is a stylistic Gorget which was and still
is the last vestige of medieval armour to be worn by
soldiers. There were many such battle flags used by Rebel
Americans during The War for Secession from Great Britain.
